I am so excited to be in this course and can't wait to learn so many new things! I am going into Elementary Education, so this class is perfect for me. Going into teaching means that I will have to become an expert in technology (or at least know enough of the basics that my third graders won't have to help me). This class will not only help me better my current skills but also give me more tools I can use in my future classroom. I can't wait to learn how to blog, how to better use social media to connect with other teachers, ways to collect and analyze data, and how to incorporate these new skills into my future classroom.
If you can't tell yet, I'm not the most technologically skilled person. I know the basics on how to use social media and my phone and computers and everything, but I don't know anything beyond the basics. In the past I've mainly used Canva, Spotify, and YouTube in educational settings. I used to be a preschool teacher and a dance teacher. As a preschool teacher I used Canva for a wide variety of things. I used it to design aspects of the classroom, make weekly newsletters, and create communications for parents. I also used YouTube for different lessons plans. Besides that, the classroom was technology free, so I really didn't learn many teacher tech tools. As a dance teacher I used Spotify all the time, but that was it. I haven't had many opportunities to use technology in educational settings, but I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn more about it.
Having a Personal Learning Newtwork (PLN) is vital to helping you learn and grow. With recently moving to college, my PLN changed greatly in the last few months. I have new friends and teachers who are helping me learn and grow. My friends are helping branch out and join new clubs that are in my field of interest, such as the Child Psychology club. I am able to take classes I am actually interested in and meet teachers and peers who share similar interests. This class is also helping expand my PLN. Instead of using just Canva or Google Docs, I'll be learning new platforms I can use and add to my PLN. As my PLN grows and changes, a few things stay the same. My family is still always there for me, encouraging me and supporting me. TikTok has yet to disappoint me, providing a place to learn more about topics that interest me. I am excited to see how my Personal Learning Network changes throughout the year.
I'm right there with you with not really knowing that much about technology in educational settings. I have a couple family members who excel in this area, but I myself don't really know that much. I also hope to learn in this class to the point where I become proficient in education technology. Your expanding PLN is exciting! Joining clubs like Child Psychology is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI am also going into Elementary education! I think it is so cool that you got to teach in a preschool! That sounds like a very fun job!
ReplyDeleteHi Addison! I think it's so cool that you're going into Elementary Education. I'm an English major, but I'm minoring in Education, and I've been really enjoying it! I think it's super nice that you already have experience being a teacher, and it's definitely okay that you're not tech savvy--that's what this class is for :) I really love this as a first blog!
ReplyDeleteHello Addison, I love how excited you are to learn about technology in this way. I'm not going into education, but I love learning about all the different ways to make your classroom more technology accessible. I also love Canva and Spotify, and I use both on the regular, like you do.
