Before this course, I knew very, very little about copyright. I knew that it existed, and meant you couldn’t copy or share certain materials, but I didn’t know any of the specifics. I went through 12 years of education without learning anything about copyright, and I would want to change that for my students. First, I would make sure that as a teacher I was fully aware of all copyright rules, and what they mean. It’s very easy to find materials online to use for lessons or classroom activities, but just because it’s online doesn’t mean that you can use it. I’d ensure that all of my teaching materials were ok to use. Then, I would teach my students about copyright rules. Most students are very resourceful when it comes to the internet, but they don’t always know when they’re doing something wrong. So I would teach my students everything that I’ve learned in this class like fair use and the different...

Microsoft Word, though a very useful application, is not one I have much experience with. In Elementary school, MS Word was the main application we used for projects, however at that time computer projects weren’t nearly as common as they are today. I made fun powerpoints and wrote a few silly stories using MS Word at home when I was little, but that’s about the extent of my experience. When I reached Middle School I started having to turn most of my work in online, however, Google Docs was free for all students in the county and you had to pay for MS Word. So I made a switch to Google Docs and haven’t looked back since. I am extremely comfortable with Google Docs due to using them for so long. But now that I’m taking this class I guess I’m going to have to refamiliarize myself with Microsoft Word.       The ISTE Standard that I think is the most important is Learner. Teachers themselves are educators, they are teaching students who are then the l...

" Inside My Classroom " by  knittymarie  is licensed under  CC BY-SA 2.0 .        I am so excited to be in this course and can't wait to learn so many new things! I am going into Elementary Education, so this class is perfect for me. Going into teaching means that I will have to become an expert in technology (or at least know enough of the basics that my third graders won't have to help me). This class will not only help me better my current skills but also give me more tools I can use in my future classroom. I can't wait to learn how to blog, how to better use social media to connect with other teachers, ways to collect and analyze data, and how to incorporate these new skills into my future classroom.        If you can't tell yet, I'm not the most technologically skilled person. I know the basics on how to use social media and my phone and computers and everything, but I don't know anything beyond the basics. In the past I've mai...
